Aim of the Course
To enable participants to maximise an appraisal interview and hence improve an employee’s attitude to their work and their overall performance.
Objectives
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
a. Identify the purpose and scope of the appraisal interview.
b. Prepare for an appraisal interview.
c. Conduct structured and participative appraisal interviews in such a manner as to motivate and develop staff.
d. Set effective targets and objectives.
e. Identify training needs and devise a training plan.

Course Content
The course includes the purpose and scope of the appraisal, linking appraisal to performance, job analysis and objective setting, defining standards and improvement targets, identifying training needs and devising training plans, interview preparation, using the interview to motivate staff and if necessary, facilitate change and creating a supporting and enabling atmosphere. The participants will then have the opportunity to practice conducting one to one interviews.
